How to register for the SLE
The SLE is administered by the Public Service Commission of Canada (PSC), not booked like a commercial exam. In most cases the process works like this:
- You apply for a Government of Canada position that has a French second-language requirement.
- The hiring department refers you for SLE testing (Reading, Written Expression, and/or Oral), usually through the PSC.
- You receive an invitation with the date, format, and level required for the job.
- You take the official test through the PSC. Your result is stated as a level: A, B, or C.
test2pass.ca is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with the PSC or the Government of Canada. Always confirm the official process on the Government of Canada website for your specific position.
SLE levels and scores
SLE Reading results are reported as a level: A (basic), B (intermediate), or C (advanced professional). The level you need depends on the job. Our practice is organised by level so you can target exactly what your position requires.
Retaking the SLE
The PSC applies a waiting period before you can retake an SLE test. Consistent practice between attempts is the best way to move up a level — repeat our tests as often as your plan allows and review your weak areas each time.
Revision pages & practice quizzes
Beyond the tests, revision pages cover vocabulary, grammar, and reading strategies for the SLE. Some are free previews; full revision content comes with a paid plan.
